thanks for the info, have been interested in getting an RMW boot in suede or camel, but not one that's too pointy.  the last on the standard model seems to fit the bill . . .
may i ask which RM Williams model you decided to go with, and what the sizing was like?
one other retailer that carries aldens besides nro, tannery, j. crew, and barney's is mr. sid's in newton . . . similar stock to tannery and nro, but there's lots of other stuff in the suiting / apparel section that makes a visit worthwhile . . .
i never said that 'F' widths were made for the US market . . .   i was only concurring with isshinryu101's comment that UK sized, F-width, Santoni 'Fatte a Manos' made for the European market, run very large, and as a general rule of thumb i have found it best to size down 1.5 from one's US size . . .    in this sense, they are similar to tricker's on the 4444 last (in many persons' experience).  i however, do concur with your thoughts on C&J sizing, as practically...
yes, i would agree.  my experience with santoni FAMs in UK, F widths have also led me to size down 1.5 from my US size (i.e. US 11D = UK 9.5F) . . .
never bought from 6pm before (a zappos affiliate), but they say they have 11.5 here in burgundy shell for $270:   http://www.6pm.com/florsheim-by-duckie-brown-the-brogue-cordovan
okay, i can see how that might violate convention.  but it still can work . . . i think a lot depends upon the length of the shirt (i.e. a shorter cut sportshirt, and not a dress shirt), and the sportcoat would be worn unbuttoned of course . . . there's a certain slimming effect in play too . . .   the general idea, is some sort of light secondary layer to be worn over the shirt that's not too heavy for fall and that's not cut like a bomber jacket (i.e. a jacket that...
suede chukkas and dark denim look really nice.  and the jeans and denim match well too. but with a pink shirt, you might want throw on some sort of grey colored sportcoat to balance out the other colors, and preferably one that's longer than your untucked shirt (which is a general rule of thumb of mine).  vest might go really well over a forest green sweater perhaps?   just thinking out aloud, so take my advice however you please . . .
so the bb double monks aren't the same as the alfred sargent ramseys?  the side stitching underneath the buckle region looks awfully similar to photos of AS here:   http://www.afinepairofshoes.co.uk/collections/uk-size-10-price-asc/products/alfred-sargent-exclusive-ramsey-black   compare with:   http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=523&Product_Id=1721627&Parent_Id=522&default_color=Brown&sort_by=§ioncolor=§ionsize=#null
wrt to diesel's for wide thighs, i find the viker model to work out great, true to size . . . there's also the larkees that are a more loose fit . . .
