My favorite argyles are the Pantherella. The wool/nylon seem to have a long life. The colors are great.
Which Eddie's Shoe Repair? They do Cats Paw soles and heel?
Are you guys kidding?
Yes, it helps if they are roughed up a bit. Leather soles are dense, I use a hair dryer - it heats the leather and allows the the conditioner to soak in. I do at least two coats
I found this there:   "Plantation Crepe – Great traction and rain resistance, but the leather tip can get funky and peel back when it gets soaked."   The fact is leather soles are leather. At the Wolverine blog they suggest using waterproofing on the leather soles of their 1000 Mile boot. I have done this in the past and it does help in preventing the leather from soaking up water.
As compared to what?
Ok, I believe in giving up something for Lent - but did you have to go this far? A little extreme don't you think?
Brown CXL ages great, I just called Alden NY to see if they had these in 10E, they did. I have to make a decision.
A couple of helpful hints. First, my Alden Chukkas always have a little heel slippage - I inserted tongue pads this week and there was no more slipping. Second, I found my regular leather soles to be slippery in certain weather conditions. I found these non-skid pads that work really well.   http://www.cobblersupplies.com/servlet/the-244/Shur-Grip-Non-Skid/Detail   http://www.shoetreemarketplace.com/Tongue_Pads_p/538002.htm
