Allen Edmonds: Sizing Guide

AE fit & sizing help

  • by Neo1

Lots of people have asked questions related to sizing, fit, etc. so I thought it might be helpful to compile the info I've gathered based on personal experience.  People can feel free to add to this.   Last This narrows things down a lot - won't absolutely determine whether something will work or not, but it's one of the most important factors.  I take the same size in all the lasts for the majority.  Breaking them down a little bit -   Welts   65 - the last I love to hate.  Contrary to the description, I don't feel like it is either the longest or the narrowest. ... read more

Alden Shoes Sizing Guide: 379X Last

  • by JSO1

Alden's 379X last is also known as the "military" last and is often used for the Japanese and European markets.  It has a fairly rounded shape, and is clearly designed with orthopedics in mind. 379X offers excellent toe room - comparable with the Modified last. 379X has a narrow heel and is also narrow through the waist of the shoe. The instep and vamp of the 379X last are fairly low, but the last overall has enough volume that the general guidance is to size down by 1/2 in length unless you have a high instep, in which case it should be taken true to... read more

Alden Shoes: Sizing Guide

  • by JSO1

Lasts Alden's lasts may seem a little confusing to first-time buyers. Our posters in the Alden thread for 2016 (archived pre-2016 Alden thread here) have a wealth of experience and knowledge about Alden sizes. We were able to compile this guide thanks to the contribution of many users who have shared their experience inside the Alden thread. If you have the chance to visit a store that sells Alden, we highly recommend that you try on the shoes in order to find the correct size for the last you're interested in. In case this is not possible for you, we hope this guide... read more

Alden Shoes Sizing Guide: Aberdeen Last

  • by JSO1

The Aberdeen last features a pointed toe box, therefore some users find it narrow and slightly elongated. If you have medium or wide feet with a high instep and arch, this last may not be the best choice in terms of comfort. It is rather flat, and it's recommended for feet that don't need much support. It runs a little longer than regular U.S. size but is generally recommended to be taken true to size. Alden Shoes Sizing Guide: Tremont Last

  • by JSO1

The Tremont last fits long by consensus, roughly 1/4 size longer than regular U.S. size. Some people feel the need to size down 1/2, just like with the Barrie last. The two lasts are very similar but the Tremont has more instep room, a narrower heel, and a lower profile than the Barrie.
