No shit. Guess I'll have to go home and check out my librarian. How about Brainy Girls Appreciation Thread? Video games do not make the "geek."

And does it always have to go so close the edge of NSFW? Those women are damned near naked.

b

I use geek and brainy girl interchangeably because you can be a geek for anything... doesn't have to be just tech.

Blair Butler: Comic Book Geek! Butler graduated from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. She became the head writer of G4's flagship television program X-Play. Although she identifies herself as a writer/producer, her work as a stand-up comedian, including being featured on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, opened the way for her to work on-camera.

She was later given her own segment called Fresh Ink on Attack of the Show! where she critiqued comic books, reviewing the newest issues of comic books with her recommendation on whether to "buy", "browse", or "burn" them.

Butler has an online segment on the G4 website called "Geek Out" where she examines various things from geek culture

Fair enough. My objection is in good part that it seems such an image is oftentimes generated to attract certain guys. Not that these women are examples of such, just that it happens.

PhD and hot--now that's a combination. I have a weird image of a woman in her academic regalia with her stockings showing. ;)

That would be interesting, I haven't found anything out there. I think you gave me an interesting idea for the gf's Halloween costume.

This is hot regardless:

I know all I've done is complain in this thread, but does anybody else feel like it ruins a nerdy girl's allure when she poses for a photoshoot? I don't know, I thought that part of the draw of nerdy girls was the typical shyness/bookishness/etc.

I kind of agree. But I'm also shallow enough to not care. Kari Byron can be posed or candid--don't matter to me. Hell, in posed shots she's more like to be showing off. As evidenced by those great pics.

Here, here!

It's part of their marketing appeal. Lots of these geek girls are also famous in their circles, to get there they had to market themselves. If you're on TV, a journalist, author etc... you're going to need to pose for something. The fact that a woman can be ambitious, smart and attractive is appealing to many people... like myself.

Most men are still intimidated by a powerful woman, regardless of what they say. I prefer mine to be my driven equal. She challenges me and doesn't take my bullshit.

Most of these women are more girl-next-door rather than model'ish; I think they are kind of flattered to be sexualized a bit. Every girl has a wild side. If you've noticed, they also look a little uncomfortable and awkward in their posed pics, you can tell they aren't used to it.

PS: Dr. Oksana Katsuro-Hopkins was pretty hard to find, she doesn't pose for her dissertations. Those are from her wedding that the NYT took.

This one is hard to beat!

Summer Williams is a rocket scientist for NASA and a Houston Texans Cheerleader!

Williams is a 25-year old aerospace engineer for the Jacobs Engineering Group, which is NASA's main scientific support contractor. Williams, a small-town Kansan, is an assistant project manager on the group that figures out how to keep the international space station habitable.
